Configuring the node

Settings

The settings screen consists of multiple sections that should be filled step by step. Fill them in attentively, and do not forget to use the correct TestNet mnemonic or to save it after generating one.
Write down you mnemonic to a safe place and treat it like a password. If you loose it, you will not be able to run the node.

Node Settings

This section allows you to set up your Node name, Public URL (only if you have a registered domain and ...), and select the RPC URL Mode, which can be established by Ngrok (recommended), Localhost, and Custom (you can manually input your RPC URL). The ports we need for the RPC are 9933, 9944, 30333.
Please note that "Bioauth enrolment mode" should be enabled only if you haven't registered in our network before and didn't pass the enrolment process. If you have passed the enrolment before, keep it empty.
We recommend keeping everything on Default, only adding your Node name. Add Public URL only if your host or machine has a public address, otherwise keep it empty.
Press Apply to save changes or Reset to restore the settings saved previously.
After pressing Apply, you can move to the next section, Key Management.

Key management

This section serves to Insert or Generate your Mnemonic, which is used to generate a validator keypair. Your biometric identity will be linked to your validator keypair, so you need to obtain and manage the keypair properly and keep it secret.
As the first step, if you don't have one already, you need to generate a new keypair. Press Insert Mnemonic and then Generate to generate a mnemonic.
After you press Generate the Desktop App will create a new mnemonic that you must save and store somewhere.
Don't press Close until you have saved the mnemonic! We intentionally prevent you from copying the generated mnemonic right into the input - so that you have put it somewhere. This is a good time to save it in a proper location, because if you lose it - you lose your way into the network. Write it down in a notebook, for example.
If you lose your mnemonic after you have completed the bioauth enrollment, it will be impossible for you to authenticate in the network. We do not have a recovery mechnism at this moment, so you won't be able to participate in the TestNet anymore.
After pressing Close, you will get back to the previous window, where you can enter the mnemonic into the input field. Enter the Mnemonic and press Insert, the key will be saved to the peer.
If you have inserted the wrong mnemonic, you will need to remove your workspace at the bottom of the Settings page, and create a new one again.

ngrok settings

ngrok is a free service that allows us to crate a tunnel between your node and you mobile phone that you will use when scanning a QR code.
You need to create an ngrok account at ngrok.com and insert your authorization key to allow the Desktop App to create ngrok tunnels for you.
There is a chance that ngrok will "just work" without the key - but if it doesn't, you will have to create an account and provide your authorization key.
To insert an ngrok auth key, press Insert Authorization Key. That will open a modal window with an input field.
Copy and paste your auth key that can be found here.
Press Insert to save this key. The state of the section will not be changed since we can't detect if the key was inserted or not. However, rest assured that the key is there.
If you want to start ngrok from your terminal, put a tick in Manually start ngrok.

Updates

Updates section stands for chacking the available peer updates. Most likely, if you just downloaded the app you have the latest version, but in the future make sure you regularly check for updates.
You'll see the next message if there is available update. Please stop the node before you start.
Or no updates available:
You can start the node again when the updating process is finished:

Danger Zone

This section contains destructive actions, and have to used careully.
Skip this section if you do not need to delete your workspace. Deleting a workspace will erase everything, and will require you to start over again.
After you are done with all sections on the Settings page, you can run your node.
