FAQ

How do I know my node is producing blocks?

After successful authentication you will see "Bioauth flow - authentication complete" and "We've obtained an auth ticket auth_ticket" in the log few seconds after biometric authentication. You will also you see "Starting consensus session on top of parent 0x..." in the log. It happens once a 10-15 minutes. Unfortunately, our explorer is representing addresses in 0x (in hex) while polkadot.js extension - sr57. It's a UI issue, we'll fix it.

I forgot to write down my mnemonic, where can I find it?

You can find it here if you did not delete the workspace - "$HOME/.local/share/humanode-peer/chains/humanode_testnet2/keystore".

Can I reauthenticate anytime?

No, in this testnet you obtain an authentication ticket for 72 hours and while this ticket is valid, you cannot get a new one. Only after 72 hours you can get a new one. We want to see what's gong on when human nodes go offline a lot. Yep, it will be different on the mainnet.

How can I get extra info about auth?

Unfortunately, our explorer is representing addresses in 0x (in hex) while polkadot.js extension - sr57. It's a UI issue, we'll fix it.

Do I have to use the same mnemonic as in the TestNet V1?

No, this is a new chain. Sachiel is held captive in our underground base. You have to enroll again where you will tie your biometrics to the validator key. Save the old mnemonic somewhere and generate a new one.

Do I have to use the same mnemonic as in the Desktop app v1?

Yes, Desktop app launched together with the TestNet V2.

Do I need to set up Ngrok in the setting?

Not really, in 99% of the cases it works out of the box.

Why do I get "Verification failed for block xxx" ?

It's a part of consensus. All blocks should be verified. You see this if somebody tries to propose an invalid block. It's not your fault.

Do mnemonic and address remain the same?

Yes, they remain the same.

Can I run 2 nodes with same IP?

Yes, you can share an IP address as long as the peering ports are different.

Can I pass the bioauth while wearing contact lens or glasses?

Sometimes our liveness detection does not allow glasses, try putting them off. Transparent contact lenses must be fine. If it's noticeable - i.e. it's cat-eyes lenses - the liveness detection will likely treat that as spoof attempt.

If we have so many human nodes, how can this blockchain be fast like BSC/AVAX/SOL?

We haven't implemented the final consensus yet, the main slowdown will likely be from it. We will launch another testnet when we're ready with this. Everything else does not contribute to the "blockchain speed" in the common sense of this term. However, we are EVM compatible chain, so we will likely be slower than DAG-based UTXO-only chains.

Is it possible to run a node without downloading Humanode app?

We currently distribute the node only via the desktop app. Before the main net we'll have that option.
